Music Pathway Kids Choir is a joyful and thoughtfully designed choral program where young singers grow not only as musicians, but also as confident, expressive, and collaborative individuals. In a supportive rehearsal environment, children develop healthy vocal habits, pitch and rhythm awareness, attentive listening, ensemble blending, stage presence, and the confidence to share their voices with others.
We place equal importance on musical development and cultural heritage. Our repertoire is intentionally broad and artistically rich, including original choral works, songs in English, Chinese, French, and German, folk songs, and music from a wide range of world traditions. Through singing in different languages and styles, children build musical flexibility, cultural curiosity, and a deeper understanding of how music connects people across backgrounds. They are encouraged to appreciate their own cultural roots while developing an open and respectful perspective toward the musical traditions of others.
This diverse musical experience helps students develop a well-rounded artistic sensibility, stronger musical imagination, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. More than learning songs, children learn to listen, contribute, collaborate, and grow through a shared musical goal.
Performance is an important part of the Music Pathway experience. Throughout the year, choir members work toward meaningful concerts and have opportunities to perform at distinguished New York City venues, including Carnegie Hall, Zankel Hall, and DiMenna Center. These professional-stage experiences allow children to celebrate their progress, build poise and confidence, and create lasting musical memories with their peers and families.
Whether a child is new to singing or already has musical experience, Music Pathway Kids Choir welcomes every young voice. We believe choir is a place to belong, discover, and shine—together through the joy of music.
Meet Our Conductor
Giovanna Yang D.M.A.
Is a voice teacher, opera singer, and children’s choir conductor based in New York. She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami and holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Central Conservatory of Music. She also received specialized training in the Kodály approach at the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Academy of Music in Hungary.
With experience in children’s choir education, section coaching, and stage performance, Dr. Yang brings together healthy vocal technique, ear training, musical expression, and collaborative ensemble skills. Her teaching is rooted in a student-centered approach that helps young singers develop confidence, strong musical habits, artistic curiosity, and a genuine joy in making music together.
An active professional performer, Dr. Yang has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, and venues across the United States and Europe. She is also the Secretary-General of the NATS International Region China Chapter and has served as an adjudicator for vocal competitions in New York.
Music Pathway Kids Choir welcomes children ages 5–12 to discover the joy of singing together. Through age-appropriate vocal training, engaging repertoire, and collaborative rehearsals, children develop musical skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
Students work toward seasonal performances, bringing their rehearsal experience to the stage and sharing their progress with family and friends. Performance dates, venues, participation requirements, and any additional fees will be communicated separately.
NEW TO THE CHOIR?
We recommend arranging a trial before enrolling so your child can meet the instructor and experience a rehearsal.
Trial Rehearsal: Saturday, September 19 at 10:30AM
Trial Fee: $30
If your child enrolls in the Fall semester after the trial, the $30 trial fee will be applied as a credit toward the seasonal tuition.
